BRAD close out

The AU Clinical Research Center closed out the 5 year Biomedical/behavioral Research Administration Development (BRAD) programme on the 29th of November that aimed to mentor, support, build capacity and promote the development of a robust research ecosystem at the institution. Led by Dr Fadzai Mutseyekwa, among the programme’s many milestones was the creation and subsequent work of the university’s Research & Ethics Committee, the investment in upskilling personnel in grants management in the CRC and implementation of the university’s research policy. Mrs. Mandla Tirivavi of the CRC and BRAD coordinator, is the only certified research management professional in Zimbabwe and is one of only 12 such professionals in Africa reflecting the impact of BRAD in skills development on the continent in research. Mr. Gbriel Muzah, of the IPLG who is one of 16 young researchers supported by BRAD has gone on to make waves in the Intellectual Property field growing to become a seasoned published researcher and mentor to other up and coming young researchers.
